Valentine For Him

Cheers for February and St. Valentine’s Day!

I can’t believe one month of 2013 is already gone! January is a blue month. It’s cold and carries the post holiday blues. For me it was challenging with some tough pregnancy issues yet filled with some lovely moments. But I’m happy February is here. It is the shortest month after which you can sense that spring is just around the corner.

And St. Valentine’s is just 14 days away. Not that I am a fan of St. Valentine’s. For people in love every day should be St. Valentine’s! But that’s a another story.

I’ve been looking at Etsy a lot lately. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to go back selling on Etsy. It is an incredible place. So many talented people and so many pretty handmade things, it is very engaging and I could well spend hours looking through the site. And while I was digging through the pretty handmade community I created a treasury list with Valentine gifts for men. I am so tempted to get one of these pieces for my hubby!

Here are some of my top favourites!

Local London: Portobello Market

_DSC1845

For many years Portobello Market for me was the set of my most favourite movie Notting Hill. When I first moved to London life was so crazy that for so long I never managed to go and see this lovely spot. I don’t remember when was the first time when I went to Portobello Market but it was during the Notting Hill carnival in August. I loved the area! And when we moved to West London a few years ago and Notting Hill is now just a stone throw away Portobello Road is one of my favourite places for a relaxing walk and a coffee date during the weekend. I also enjoy the market and all the lovely things it has to offer.
From vintage clothes, cameras and crockery to beautiful handmade jewellery, scarves and other pretty accessories, there is lots to tease you to buy. Add to this delicious food, fresh fruit and veg and fresh juices, there is lots to do for a whole day. And if the weather is nice (rarely, but still!) there are tons of lovely cafes to enjoy coffee or tea under the sun. I also love taking pictures of the pretty colourful houses in the Notting Hill neighbourhood.
If you make your way to Portobello, don’t forget to visit the little and so charming book shop from the Notting Hill movie.

Cream of Lentil Soup

Lentil Soup Ingredients

For women who have been pregnant there is no need to explain the morning sickness period. It’s quite tough and for some it is even tougher. I wasn’t ready for that at all. I’ve heard stories of women being constantly sick but I had no idea what they really felt like.

When I started feeling nauseous I was scared. I wasn’t sure how bad it can get, how long it will last and how exactly it will affect me. In a week’s time I started to realise that my eating habits were changing, and they were changing drastically. I’ve never had carvings or anything, but there were certain things I could no longer face on my plate. The most significant change in my appetite was that I could no longer eat meat. I was turning into a vegetarian. Something very unusual for me as I have been a big meat-eater all my life.

But here it is. Meat is rarely a part of my meals these days.

So I started exploring new vegetarian recipes that I could easily cook at home.

Happy New 2013! It’s Resolutions Time!

New Year's Resolutions

It went so unbelievably fast, as it does every year. It feels like yesterday when we celebrated 2012 New Year’s Eve skiing in Andorra. And now here it is, the end of a really good year and the fresh beginning of the New 2013 which I hope would be even better than the year just gone. 2012 has been great in many ways, it brought me so many wonderful things and big life changes which are yet to be seen fully completed in the New Year.
